Some Additional Mike Trout Facts
Here are some additional tidbits about Trout that we wanted to include but couldn’t find a spot for on our quiz. This includes tidbits about his life before he was famous and how rich he is.
Before He Was Famous
He was born on August 7th, 1991 in Millville, New Jersey to Jeff and Debbie Trout. Jeff was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 5th round of the 1983 MLB draft but never made it to the Majors. He did spend a handful of years in the minor leagues though. After a knee injury forced him to retire from baseball, Jeff worked as a history teacher and as a coach back in Millville.
Trout has revealed that he was a massive fan of Derek Jeter growing up. During a game back in 2011, Trout admitted that he asked Jeter for an autograph during a game where Trout made it to 2nd base. He ended up getting the autograph after the game was over.
During an interview with Maxim, Trout revealed that he was a die-hard Philadelphia Phillies fan in his youth. He even tailgated outside of the ballpark after the Phillies won the World Series in 2008. This was a year prior to Trout being drafted to the MLB.
During his junior year of highschool, Trout threw a no-hitter against Egg Harbor Township.
Contracts & Career Earnings
According to Forbes, Mike ranked 17th on the list of the highest-paid athletes of 2019. This came after Trout brought in $50.6 million in the year, which was the most by any baseball player. That means Trout made more money that year than big names like Conor McGregor, Phil Mickelson, and James Harden.
In 2019, Trout signed a massive 12-year contract extension with the Los Angeles Angels worth $426 million. This deal pays Trout around $37 million per year and is fully guaranteed. This was also the largest contract signed in MLB history. This also broke the record as the largest deal in North American sports history.
By the end of 2030, Trout will have made over $500 million dollars in career earnings. That is only salary and doesn’t include any of his endorsements or business deals off the field. In other words, Trout is rich.
