The 1992 team was dubbed the ‘Dream Team’ and had a ton of the greatest players to ever play the game on it. Bird would have likely won more but NBA players were not allowed at the Olympics until 1992. That means he theoretically had a chance to represent Team USA in 1980, 1984, and 1988.

Family & Personal Life
Larry was born on December 7th, 1956 to Joe and Georgia Bird. He was raised in French Lick, Indiana. This is where his nickname, “The Hick from French Lick”, comes from.
Larry has five siblings: Eddie, Jeff, Linda, Mark, and Mike.
When Larry was in high school his parents got a divorce. One year later, his father committed suicide. After this happened, Georgia had to work two jobs in order to support Larry and his five siblings. During this difficult time in his life, Larry says that he used basketball as a way to escape.
Before the NBA, Bird briefly worked as a garbageman in his hometown of French Lick.
In 1989, Bird married Dinah Mattingly. They have two adopted children together, Conner and Mariah. In 2019, Larry and Dinah celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary together.
Larry also has a biological daughter named Corrie, which came from a previous marriage.
Contracts & Career Earnings
In 1979, Bird signed a 5-year contract with the Boston Celtics worth around $3.25 million dollars.
According to Spotrac, Bird earned approximately $24 million dollars in salary during his 13-year NBA career. This is only his salary from the NBA and doesn’t include any endorsements or off-the-court business ventures.
