After being selected by the Indiana Pacers, he was traded to the Spurs for George Hill. As a result, the Pacers are likely kicking themselves for the trade.

Here are some extra details about Kawhi that we couldn’t find a spot for on our quiz but wanted to include.

Kawhi went to Martin Luther King High School in Riverside, California. His high school teammate was fellow NBA player, Tony Snell.

According to ESPN’s rankings, Kawhi was the 56th highest-rated player coming out of high school in 2009. As a result, we can say that Kawhi was extremely underrated coming into college.

In 2008, Kawhi’s father, Mark, was shot and killed in Compton at the car wash that he owned. Kawhi was only 16 years old and went on to play the next night for his high school basketball team, scoring 17 points. After the game, Leonard reportedly broke down and cried in his mother’s arms.

Kawhi is cousins with Stevie Johnson, who played for the Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers and San Diego Chargers.

According to NFL.com, Kawhi was a defensive back and wide receiver in high school. He says that he was good and probably would have gone to the NFL if he stuck with it but hated practice.
