This is false as Orr never won the Memorial Cup in his Junior career. Orr and the Oshawa Generals did make it to the finals of the 1966 Memorial Cup but were defeated by the Edmonton Oil Kings in the finals.
2) When was the first year that Bobby Orr joined the NHL?
Bobby Orr’s first season in the NHL was 1966-67. Orr ended up scoring 41 points in his rookie season and went on to win the Calder Trophy as the leagues best rookie.
3) How many times did Bobby Orr win the Stanley Cup in his career?
Bobby Orr won the Stanley Cup twice in his career. He won it in 1970 and 1972, both times as a member of the Boston Bruins. In 1970, the Boston Bruins defeated the St. Louis Blues, 4 games to 0 to win the cup. Bobby ended up scoring the Stanley cup winning goal, which is where the iconic photo of Orr flying through the air came from. In 1972, the Boston Bruins defeated the New York Rangers, 4 games to 2 to win the cup. Orr also scored the Stanley cup-winning goal in this series as well.
4) Which team did Bobby Orr and the Boston Bruins lose to in the 1974 Stanley Cup Finals?
Orr and the Bruins lost to the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1974 Stanley Cup Finals. The final score of the series was 4 games to 2. Orr finished with 18 points in the entire playoffs.
5) True Or False: Bobby Orr scored 50 goals or more in a single season
This is false as Orr never scored 50 in a season. He did come close though as he scored 46 goals during the 1974-75 season. It is definitely incredible that Orr came close to 50 as a defenseman.

Orr won the Norris Trophy 8 times in his career. As a result, he holds the NHL record. In second place is Doug Harvey, who won 7 Norris Trophies in his career.

Orr won the Hart Trophy for three straight seasons (1969-72). The Hart Trophy is given out to the player who is judged most valuable to his team during the regular season. Orr would subsequently never win the Hart trophy again after 1972.

Bobby Orr wore #27 for one season before switching over to his signature #4. Orr is probably the most famous NHL player to ever wear the number 4 and his name always comes to mind when you think of those who have worn it.

Orr’s final season in the NHL was 1978-79 as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks. Injuries limited him to only 6 games before he officially hung up the skates. It is definitely weird to think of Orr playing for any other team than the Boston Bruins though.

This is false as Orr ended his career with 915 career NHL points. This was only in 657 games played. It is crazy to imagine how many points that he could have gotten if he didn’t get hurt. He would easily have been over 1000.

Family & Personal Life
- Orr was born on March 20th, 1948 in Parry Sound, Ontario to Doug and Arva Orr.
- His dad, Doug, joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served during World War II.
- Bobby has 4 siblings, Patricia, Ronnie, Penny and Doug Jr.
- Orr married Margaret Louise “Peggy” Wood in September 1973. The couple has two children together, Darren and Brent. Darren works with Bobby at Orr Hockey Group and is an NHLPA certified agent.
- His mother, Arva, died in November 2000 after a battle with cancer. His father, Doug, died in 2007.
Early Hockey Career
- Bobby was coached by a former NHL player, Bucko McDonald, when he was young. Orr has credited Bucko with his development as a hockey player and encouraging him to be an offensive defenceman.
- Bobby was scouted by the Boston Bruins when he was only 12 years old.
- Orr eventually signed with the Boston Bruins in 1962, when he was only 14 years old. The Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings and Montreal Canadiens were also interested in signing Orr but he decided to go with the Boston Bruins instead.
