Here are some details about MJ when he was in high school:
Jordan tried out for the Emsley A. Laney High School varsity basketball team as a sophomore but was cut from the team. At the time, Jordan was 5’10” and couldn’t dunk. Jordan revealed that after getting cut, he went home and cried in his room.
After getting cut, Jordan would use that feeling to motivate himself. In an interview, he revealed that he would close his eyes and remember the feeling of not making the team when he needed to get motivated.
Jordan grew 4 inches leading into his Junior year and made the Varsity team. He instantly became the best player on the team and the rest is history.
